JAMEY JOHNSON SINGLE REVIEW - cmt.com
Finding My Way to Jamey Johnson
July 28th, 2009
By: Alison Bonaguro
I adore Jamey Johnson’s new song, “My Way to You,” so much that I’m seriously considering going to hear him do it in St. Louis. He’s playing Farm Aid there on Oct. 4 (along with Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp, who I also love for their hardcore, genuine approach to songwriting). And while I know it sounds absurd to go all that way to hear one song, Johnson’s voice is just kind of a magnet that way. This particular song is especially mesmerizing because, like his other tunes, this one takes you to places you normally don’t go (down the wrong road, living by the wrong code and living fast as hell). But it does so with some more haunting instrumentation. And what I love the most about seeing Johnson live is that I always get that feeling he’s singing just to me.

You two are right on target...I just love this new song! All of his songs just really touch you...like he has written the song or is singing just to you. I saw him in Chattanooga a few years ago & have been hooked ever since...I'm counting down the days until the new album is out.
I totally agree with you. When I saw him in oxford, it was as if it were only me and him in the room. The music and the words wrap around you, not letting you go. Even when you are only listening to the album, there is still somekind of a spell cast upon you...its awesome to feel the emotions that he is singing about.
